She Wanted To Take The Stray Dog Home, Until She Read His Collar

Daisy had seen the same homeless Labrador in the park for five days in a row and wanted to adopt the dog. She checked the collar for clues, but there was nothing on the tag. Her partner, however, quickly realized what it was...

1. A Homeless Canine

A homeless Labrador had been hanging around the park for a few days. After noticing it, Daisy and some of her neighbors started feeding it. She also noticed that the dog didn't trust any of them. He kept his distance at all times, and his tail was always down when someone approached him-a clear sign that the dog was on guard.

2. Animal Services

Daisy called Animal Services, but they told her they could not help find his owner. However, they were willing to take him in. As Daisy learned more about the stray situation, she quickly changed her mind. She realized that calling for help had been a mistake.

3. Another Solution Besides The Refuge

Animal Services told Daisy that the dog would be sent to an animal refuge. Daisy was shocked to learn that it euthanizes dogs that have not been adopted in five days. Daisy wondered if there was another solution besides the refuge. She discussed the idea of adopting the stray with her partner. Her partner agreed that they could take the dog.

4. The Dog Is Happy

Daisy and John went to the store and bought some soggy food, some toys, and a bag of treats that they hoped would tempt their puppy. The dog was happy to see them and was clearly attracted to the treats they had brought. Daisy was amazed to see that the dog came to her without any call from her.

5. His Body Is Tense

Before, Daisy would leave the food and then walk away. This time, however, she put the food on the ground and then stayed close to it. The dog was clearly unhappy that Daisy wouldn't move. He paced back and forth in the path, refusing to come any closer. Finally, the dog was so hungry that he slowly approached. Daisy noticed that his body was tense.

6. A Tag

The dog was wearing a collar. Daisy turned the collar to see if there was a tag. She saw a large, box-shaped tag on the opposite side. The tag had a series of letters and numbers that looked like a username and password. At first, Daisy thought it might be a tag to track an animal. But when she saw the third line of text, she was shocked.

7. An Address

Daisy motioned for John to come over and then showed him the numbers on the tag. They both agreed that they were probably latitude and longitude. John searched the Internet for the location and found an address. The couple, Daisy and John, put the dog in the car and drove to their destination. They both remained silent, as they had become attached to the dog.

8. The Destination

The dog was obviously used to being in a car and was comfortable in the back seat. As they approached, the dog became excited and looked out the window. Eventually, they entered an industrial area with only a few trees.

9. A Run-Down House

After another five minutes of driving, the couple was nearing their destination. They saw that their dog was giving them a hint. His tail was wagging, and eventually he started barking loudly, pointing to a run-down house. John parked at the location, walked up to the house, and knocked on the door, since he didn't see a doorbell.

10. The Dog Jumps Out

Daisy watched the house with excitement and fear. They waited in silence, but no one came out. Daisy rolled down the car window, hoping someone would answer the door. That seemed to be what the dog was waiting for. He quickly got out of the back seat, jumped over Daisy's lap and out the window.

11. What To Do Next?

The dog ran to the edge of the house, passed John, and jumped through a broken window to get inside. Daisy jumped out of the car, closed the door, and ran to the lawn to find John standing there in shock. They wondered what to do next. Should they follow the dog, or would that be considered trespassing?

12. A Back Door That Appears To Be Open

Daisy found a back door that appeared to be open. Was she brave enough to go into a strange house in a possibly dangerous neighborhood? But the most important thing for her was to see the Labrador again. She was pretty sure that no one was in the house right now. But it would be wise to ask John to come around the back. After some thought, John agreed.

13. A Familiar Barking Sound

With a loud creak, the door opened. They cautiously stepped inside and it was immediately obvious that no one had been here for a long time. The whole room downstairs was empty and there was no sign of anyone or a dog. John, however, found the stairs to the second floor. As the two looked up, they heard a familiar barking sound again.

14. A Frail-Looking Man

They went upstairs, and when Daisy reached the room at the top of the stairs, she saw a friendly Labrador lying on the bed. Next to it, hidden under the covers, was an old and frail-looking man petting the animal. At first, the old man did not look up when the couple entered the room. Eventually, he noticed Daisy and John standing in the far corner of the room.

15. They Begin To Talk

The Labrador was overjoyed to see the old man and his friend. This relaxed the old man, and after a while the three of them began to talk. The old man started to speak in a low voice, telling Daisy and John that he had lived in the same old house for a long time.

16. They Bond Quickly

The old man and the dog, Jacko, bonded quickly when he took shelter in the lonely spot for a night. He didn't put the tags on Jacko's collar. They were there from the previous owners. He left them on because he hoped Jacko would come back to him if someone else found him while he was away.

17. He Is Going To Die

The homeless old man felt his body failing fast in the last week. He knew he was going to die soon, and he didn't want his friend Jacko to see it. He asked someone he knew to take Jacko to the park where he could make a new start.

18. His Last Wish

The old man begged Daisy and John to take the dog with them as it was his dying wish. He was grateful that they would bring the animal to him so he could say goodbye one last time. Shocked by the news, the couple offered to drive him to the hospital. But he refused, saying he just wanted to die in peace.
