With quite a following, the couple was used to their photos gaining attention. However, this one particular photo was gaining so much attention not from their followers but from the general public, and it's even being picked up by news outlets. Not understanding what's happening, the baffled couple began to read the comments on the photo. Then it hit them.
There was a time when people didn't know who they were on social media, and this was what started the story of Wendy Joseph and Dan Hennessey's success as an internet sensation and their love. It was in 2006 when they were both college students that their story started. Dan liked to make more friends, which led him to cross paths with Wendy in a pretty unusual way.
Wendy was then a 17-year-old graduate from high school and was planning to pursue a career in public healthcare. Dan, then an 18-year-old sophomore who was studying Exercise Science, loved to make new friends. He heard about Facebook that was still relatively unknown and was mainly used by students to meet new people. It was where Dan and Wendy first met.
On Facebook, Dan found a friend of his named Daphne. While scrolling through Daphne's friends list, Dan stumbled across Wendy's profile and was instantly smitten by her. He sent her a message immediately, but Wendy was wary of online strangers. Instead of replying to him, Wendy told Daphne about his message, and they somehow decided not to answer him.
A few weeks later, Dan decided to try again. This time, Wendy decided to view his profile and found that they shared some friends. Therefore, she felt safer and made up her mind to answer him. Their friendship began. Soon, Dan decided to meet her, so he invited her and some of her friends to a party at his apartment. However, there was a bug with that idea.
Assuming Wendy would decline his invitation, Dan didn't prepare for a party. Surprisingly, she didn't. Dan had to arrange a party fast. On that night, the two finally met for the very first time. They instantly hit it off and spent the entire night chatting and dancing. Even after the other guests had left, Wendy stayed with Dan. Clearly, a spark flew between them, but would that be enough?
Wendy was then scared of getting hurt again as she had recently ended a long relationship. Dan enjoyed his single life and party life. So the two decided to stay friends even though there was clearly something more there. They kept in touch and messaged each other regularly. After six months, they decided to give things a try as a couple. However, little did they know what trouble was waiting for them.
Happy with her love life, Wendy began to pay attention to things that she had ignored for some time, such as her studies. Dan, however, went on to party and socialize as always. Years later, Wendy was trying to get her Master's degree, but one day, she discovered a message in Dan's inbox. It was that message that changed everything and left her reeling.
There were always some seeds of doubt in Wendy's mind, and these seeds kept growing along with Dan's friends list on Facebook. He had found her on Facebook. Was he finding other women on Facebook, too? She became very suspicious. What made things worse, while she had to decline many party invitations because of her studies, Dan started to go out without her. Even though he had become much more mature, Dan still loved to party as much as ever.
The message itself was actually innocuous, but it plagued Wendy all day. Dan hadn't logged out of his Facebook, so Wendy could often see messages pop up while she was studying. She knew that it wasn't right. If she didn't trust Dan, their relationship would be in terrible danger. However, as much as she tried to resist, her curiosity overcame her. She clicked, and her world seemed to crash down when she saw that the message was from a girl.
It's easier now that she had done it once. Wendy started to go through all his messages. She found more messages from more women, who were successful, had finished studying or were young just like her and Dan. Dan had met them at the parties he attended alone. Compared to these women, Wendy felt like a failure, and soon, fear crept into every part of her life.
For all this, there was nothing Wendy could do. She was young and had minimal experience in either life or love. She felt that her life was falling apart. Fueled by her fears, small arguments escalated into huge rows. Still, Dan refused to compromise on his lifestyle. They argued badly. Should she spare more time to accompany him, or should he stay home more often? When their arguments ended up there, Wendy couldn't help but wonder who should do what.
Wendy decided to split with Dan. It's a logical course of action at that time. She was becoming unhappy in their relationship and wasn't getting what she needed from Dan. They were young at the beginning, and people changed a lot in 7 years. Even so, Wendy felt heart-breaking. Now, when looking back, Wendy is sure that it was the best decision she ever made.
Wendy didn't like the person she had become after she was with Dan - insecure and needy. She wanted to find out what kind of woman she could become. So she renewed her efforts and put her head down to pursue her own interests. Without the constant distractions and worries, she eventually received her Master's Degree in Public Administration. However, staying away from Dan had proved much more difficult than she could ever have imagined.
Wendy had actually neglected one important thing - Dan had been unhappy with her decision - far, far from it. He didn't want to give up the love of his life. He knew what part he had played in their breakup. He had taken her for granted, but now, he missed her very much. So after their separation, Dan messaged her every day for 18 months. Just like in the beginning, Dan hoped that his persistence would pay off once again.
It was a hard time for him, but Dan finally realized that Wendy was right. After achieving her Master's Degree, Wendy set her sights even higher. With social media on the rise, Wendy started her own YouTube channel, called "Wendy's Curls." She posted beauty tutorials and gave hairstyling tips for girls with naturally curly hair. She shrugged off her old look to embrace her own natural beauty. Fate, however, then decided to intervene in her life once more.
One day, Dan and Wendy bumped into each other after months of not seeing one another. Dan was amazed at the transformation Wendy had made. She just wasn't the same girl he knew from all those years ago. She had actually thrived while they were apart, and became a strong, beautiful, and confident woman. She made him fall in love with her all over again, but would she take him back? Naturally, Wendy had her reservations.
Wendy then decided to break up with Dan with the hope that they could both find who they were as individuals. They had just been too young. Dan hadn't been mature enough, and Wendy wasn't secure enough in herself to handle it. It was an incredibly difficult time, but Wendy knew it had been the right thing to do. During that time spent alone, she had become a YouTube star who had thousands of followers and had her confidence back!
Had Dan changed during that time? Had he grown out of his party-going lifestyle? Was he eventually ready to settle down? Wendy thought so. He'd made good to convince her that they were meant to be together. Surprisingly, Dan hadn't dated anybody else after they parted. He was only in love with Wendy. Knowing that he was in it for the long haul, Wendy decided to give him another chance. However, little did she know that their antics were about to go viral.
Dan began appearing in Wendy's videos, and they found that fans really liked seeing them together. So they started posting videos giving relationship advice and talking about their life as a couple. Dan also created an Instagram account, which quickly amassed more than 25,000 followers, although not nearly as many as Wendy's 105,000. In December 2017, they celebrated their 10-year anniversary, but they had no clue this milestone would become a viral sensation.
To mark the occasion, Wendy posted a side-by-side photo on her Facebook and Instagram pages. On the left was a picture of them when they first began dating, while on the right was a current photo. It may seem like a normal thing to do, but the post exploded unexpectedly. In weeks, it got over 60,000 likes and even got picked up by major news outlets like The Independent, The Sun, and The Daily Mail. Why had this picture gone so viral?
Seeing the photos side by side, fans couldn't believe that the couple looked much younger now than ten years ago. "Do you both age in reverse?" a commenter asked. "What fountain of youth are you drinking from?" another said. There's indeed a reason for such transformation. Wendy and Dan then explained exactly how they managed to become so healthy and happy.
In fact, both Wendy and Dan had a strong interest in health and fitness, so it's no surprise that the two worked hard on their bodies. When Wendy's YouTube channel hit it big, they realized that it was a natural progression to go into the fitness space. They began posting workout tutorials and nutrition advice, but they had a vision bigger than a YouTube channel.
Together, Wendy and Dan founded a fitness coaching company named True4You Fitness, where they give nutrition and exercise advice to their clients. The couple also opened a wellness-focused YouTube channel, though sometimes they also talk about their life and relationship. In September 2016, the two made a huge announcement.
In September 2016, Wendy and Dan were on vacation in Paris with a couple of friends. The day they visited the Eiffel Tower, Dan prepared a surprise for Wendy. With his friend recording everything, he got down on one knee, pulled out a diamond ring, and proposed to Wendy.
It's no surprise that Wendy said yes. She was so wildly excited that she even forgot which hand the ring should go on. It was like a fairy tale, but their life was about to become more magical. After their trip to Paris and their engagement, the couple was not done traveling and living their dream life. They were able to save enough money to do what they'd always wanted: traveling abroad for months at a time.
Dan and Wendy earned enough money from their fitness venture to travel to Thailand, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and many other countries. After going back to the U.S., they went on a domestic trip to Las Vegas. Now this power-couple is busy planning their wedding. Actually, they have also planned something else.
Dan and Wendy decided to move to the warmer climate of San Diego, California, even though both of them are originally from New Jersey. With the stunning weather, sun, and surf, California is the perfect place for the couple to settle down. What else does this mesmerizing couple have on the cards?
The pair's Instagram and YouTube pages have grown from strength to strength. Recently, they even branched out to include a website. Their main goal is to help people from all over the world achieve their fitness goals and transform their lives, just as they did! After all, the two love-birds who train together stay together.
